OMG Something Crafty???

I was pretty sure that I posted this last Christmas but I can't find it anywhere.
Every once in a while I get a crafty itch. I can't claim this idea as my own, in fact the image I use for the cover of this project isn't even mine. I have no freaking idea where I found this project. I wasn't on pinterest then so I know it wasn't there... anyway, I'm rambling.

So, if you're like me, you don't like to throw out all of those pretty Christmas cards that people sent you. I found this brilliant idea to package them up together by year.

You're going to need your stack of Christmas cards, a hole punch and some metal rings for binding. You can find them at any craft store.

It's pretty self-explanatory. You'll punch holes in the cover, in each card and use the rings to keep everything together. :)

It should look like this when you're finished.

I didn't make that cover graphic and if you don't want to make your own you can just use this one! It looks and works best if you print in full page format on a sturdy cardstock. :)

Whimseybox - July

Well, I received my JULY whimseybox today... and today is what? August 4th I believe. Right?
This is the 2nd month I've received from them and the 2nd time they've sent it so late I received it in the following month. After last month's craptacular box, I said I'd give it another month and see what happened. Let me refresh your memory: This company sends you a box chock full of "new and best-selling craft product samples". The box is supposed to inspire you and your crafting ideas.
I was pretty excited when it finally showed up today. I went to rip the packaging open and well, it wasn't sealed but after inspecting the box, it did arrive in good condition. Packaging, that's about all they're good for. Although, as I inspect my box I see there is something missing off of the outside but anyway, I don't care, I want to get to the goodies!
If you can't tell what it is by the picture, I'll explain .... 2 colors of floss, about 6 inches of chunky fake gold chain and then about 15 inches of "ball chain". Really? I paid $25 a month for this? I could get this garbage at Hobby Lobby for under $5. And then, if that's not enough, they put directions on how to make a "chunky link ball chain friendship bracelet" in the box. This is supposed to be an inspiring box,  not a box of garbage with instructions on how to make more garbage. I'm so freaking disappointed. I'll stick to my beauty sample boxes instead. This girl is cancelling her subscription.

That being said, if anyone wants 2 boxes of crafting crap just drop me an email, I'll send it your way and I'll even cover shipping. <.<

Whimseybox - not very whimsical...

On June 2nd I signed up for WhimseyBox. You can read all about this company at the website but basically, in a nutshell, this company sends you a box chock full of "new and best-selling craft product samples". The box is supposed to inspire you and your crafting ideas. I was really looking forward to my first new box so I could see what they sent and maybe inspire me to try something new.

First off, according to their website, they ship out on the 16th. Well, I cut them some slack because they are a new company but I didn't get mine until the very end of June. That's not the problem I have with them.

The problem I'm having is that they literally sent me a fantastic re-usable box all decorated and packaged nicely with nothing in it but a scrap of leather and a baggie of studs with step by step directions on how to make a leather wallet. Well, that's not very inspiring!

I understand that I'm not going to get something that interests me every month but I was HIGHLY disappointed with this box and seeing how it was my first box, well you can imagine my disappointment.

I'm going to give them another month, maybe 2, to send out boxes that truly inspire me but if nothing comes of it I'm just going to cancel my account.

I'd rather stick to my BirchBox, MyGlam or even try BirchBox for Men!

Anyway, I'll keep all interested parties up to date. I don't mind being the guinea pig!

My Early Present To My Valentine.

Believe it or not I'm always struggling to find fun, unique and thoughtful presents for Gary. Sure, I can stick with the never-fail Barnes and Nobles gift cards, cash or Newegg gift certificates but sometimes I just like to be like... ya know?

This is what I came up with this year and you're more than welcome to steal it from me. I'm not very "crafty" so I'm pretty proud of my damn self!

I started with 20 to 25 Valentiney looking note cards with envelopes, a hole-puncher, a 1.5 inch metal book ring thingie (you can get them at office supply stores or at craft stores) and a crap ton of Valentine's stickers.
I sat down at my desk and started writing.
In each card I wrote something special just for him, little love notes, "pick me ups" and other random thoughts.
I sealed the envelope up. Then I punched a hole in the top left corner of each one and put them on the book ring. I decorated the front of the envelopes with stickers and rub-ons and left him directions to only open them on days he's feeling "down" because I've come to realize that my bi-polar ass isn't the only one to get down around here.

This is what the final project looked like.
NOW, keep in mind I'm NOT crafty so you'll probably make yours a lot prettier blah blah blah. I just keep telling myself it's what I wrote on the inside that matters! LOL
